50-50 - Binchotan and Brews

Join 50-50 on the Kāpiti Coast for a six-course beer matched dinner crafted over our Japanese barbeque.  Using Binchōtan, a traditional type of charcoal used in Japanese cooking, to help bring out the flavours of locally sourced seafood, meat and produce. Mates from around the corner at Duncan’s Brewing Co. will be there too. Meet founder and head brewer George Duncan for some great beer banter and creative brews that will complement each dish.

Five Gates Farm - A sustainable journey from farm to table

A sustainable journey from Five Gates Farm in the sandhills of Kāpiti, to the Bus Stop Café on the beach. Enjoy locally grown produce, delicious food and great company. 

Begin with a morning tea in the barn at Five Gates Farm, where guests will see firsthand how the owners, Julie and Paul Greenaway, run their sustainable smallholding growing spray-free produce for small businesses, local markets and their own self-sufficient consumption. A short drive will then take you to the Bus Stop Café where your host Kirsty Green will make you feel at home as you relax and enjoy a three-course lunch featuring seasonal produce from Five Gates Farm and other local suppliers, sampling the best Kāpiti Coast has to offer. Includes a glass of local wine with lunch.

Kapiti Coach Tours - Kāpiti Indulgence Tour

The Indulgence Tour has been created to showcase the recently published book ‘Kāpiti A Portrait Through Food’. Spend the afternoon meeting and eating a selection of the artisan products that feature throughout the book including craft brewers North End Brewing, Tuatara and Duncan's Brewing Co., a little pick me up at Dark Horse Roastery, with food provided at each stop from deli and caterer, Tom Thumb. Each guest will receive a goodie bag that will be filled along the way with their own copy of Kāpiti A Portrait Through Food, beers and coffee beans from each producer.

Passo Pizza Pasta Caffè - Food Stories of Sicily in Aotearoa

Food Stories Aotearoa goes behind the scenes of Passo Pizza Pasta Caffè. In this interactive online class, chef Michele Passarello will teach you how to make busiate, a hand-rolled egg-free Sicilian pasta, pesto alla Trapanese and aubergine caponata.

With ingredients sent to your door and Michele taking you through the recipe, you will discover the secrets of Sicilian cuisine from the comfort of your own home.

Note: As the class is online, a strong internet connection is required. All are welcome, however, ingredients can ONLY be delivered within Wellington, Porirua, Kāpiti, and Hutt Valley. Ingredients will be delivered in advance. Non-Wellington participants, please purchase the $48 no ingredients ticket.
