Experience the spectacle of hundreds of kites on the stunning Ōtaki beach the 16th and 17th of February 2019.
Held each year in February, you'll see spectacular kites of all shapes, sizes and styles such as massive inflatable kites, stained glass window and bug kites, through to tiny fluttering seagull kites. This year the festival is held on the 16th and 17th of February, 10am to 5pm.
A couple of highlights are the Japanese Rokkaku fighting kite battles and stunt kite flying demonstrations.
You can also bring your own kite and join in the fun or buy one there to fly at the beach.
The kite festival is free and great family fun. There's plenty to eat and drink, market stalls and children's entertainment like a bouncy castle, merry-go-round, face painting and more.
