Kāpiti Holiday Resort
16 Beach Haven Place, Paraparaumu Beach
Kāpiti Holiday Resort is a large family Orientated Caravan and Camping ground situated in popular Paraparaumu Beach on the Kāpiti Coast. It is the only motor camp in the lower North Island where each camp site has its own shower and toilet!
Located across the road from beautiful Paraparaumu Beach and nestled among a quiet, quality beach suburb, it's the perfect place for a relaxing getaway. Bordered by large evergreen hedging and bathed in all day sunshine, you would never guess you were in the heart of bustling Paraparaumu Beach.
Ōtaki Forks campsite
One of the main entrances to Tararua Forest Park, the campsite is surrounded by open river terraces and regenerating bush.
Ōtaki Forks has two camping areas: Black Gate campsite (open all year) with 20 sites, and School House Flat campsite (closed in winter) with 150 sites. A campsite ranger is on site October – May. Please be aware there is a total fire ban year round.

From RV camp sites and caravan travelers to backpackers, retirees and families - everyone can come and unwind, relax and enjoy their stay.
Freedom Camping
Kilometres of stunning coastline and the captivating backdrop of Kāpiti Island make Kāpiti a must-visit destination for freedom travellers. It's the perfect stopover going to or from Wellington, with a series of coastal communities only an hour's drive north of the Capital.
Fully self-contained vehicles (meaning they must have their own toilet and waste-disposal facilities) are welcome to stay at our nine well-signposted designated sites around the Kāpiti Coast.
Permits are not required, but to enhance campers' stay and experience please:
- be considerate of residents and other campers
- remove all rubbish, including solid and liquid waste
- provide evidence your vehicle is self-contained, if asked by a council officer
- abide by all council bylaws including camp fires and barbecue use, noise and animal control.
For campers that are not self-contained, Kāpiti has several holiday parks that offer a wide range of facilities.
