A rainy day doesn’t have to stop you in your tracks, here are some useful tips and places to keep your day from halting in the rain.

Cinemas
With two cinemas located in Kāpiti, you have an array of movies to choose from. Event cinema's a modern cinema located at Coastlands Shopping centre featuring your brand new blockbusters and Shoreline cinema, an independent cinema in Waikanae featuring an eclectic mix of films from around the world.


Kāpiti Ten Pin Bowling
1 Te Tupe Road, Nikau Valley, Paraparaumu
Head to Kāpiti Ten Pin Bowling for a game of ten pin bowling. Great for families - try glow in the dark bowling at night!
You can also have a go on the mini golf course, arcade games or at table tennis.
Kāpiti Pools
If you're looking for exercise, recreation or swimming lessons, look no further than our fantastic aquatic facilities on the Kāpiti Coast!
With three aquatic centres, Ōtaki Pool, Waikanae Pool (summer season) and Coastlands Aquatic Centre, there is plenty for the family to enjoy any day of the week.


Duncan's Brewing
4B Sheffield St, Paraparaumu
Owned and operated by George Duncan and Wai Familton, Duncan’s is the result of a 22,000 km road trip circumnavigating the USA, where they drank their way through a multitude of seasonable and sometimes questionable beer offerings.
Clearly, a beer obsession was born.


North End Brewery
11 Ngaio Road , Waikanae
They're a small team, producing beer right out of a brewery in Waikanae, on the Kāpiti Coast. Producing a range of beers, inspired by traditional European styles, brewed to capture the uniqueness of our land.
Taking our name from Kāpiti Island, where the aptly named ‘North End’ is most visible from Waikanae Beach; they appreciate local, including this in the ingredients, branding, and brewpub; Salt and Wood Collective, adjoined to the brewery, open all day, serving American style BBQ and North End Brews to dine in or take away.
Southward Car Museum
Otaihanga Rd, Paraparaumu
Housing some of the world’s rarest and most valuable vehicles, Southward Car Museum is considered the premier privately owned automotive collection in the Southern Hemisphere.
The grounds include stunning landscaped gardens and lake including a bush walk.
There are regular theatre and music performances, and conference and exhibition facilities are available for hire. Refreshments available from the gift shop. Watch for the annual Open House and Auto Jumble Sale Days, advertised on their website and in the press.





Tuatara Brewery
7 Sheffield Street , Paraparaumu
Now with a plethora of regular gigs and events, The Brewery Tap Room is a non-pretentious, casual, and relaxed environment - fostering great hospitality and sociability. Everyone is welcome - from beer connoisseurs on strict tasting business, to work groups popping in for an after work pint or two, as well as enjoy a range of wine, cider and soft drinks.
A visit to the tap room is a great chance to rub shoulders with our award-winning brewers, who frequent the licensed area to carry out all the important "quality control". You can take a little Tuatara home with you too!

Mahara Gallery
20 Mahara Place, Waikanae
Mahara Gallery is the much loved district gallery for the Kapiti Coast, featuring an exciting and free programme of frequently changing exhibitions, events, live music, poetry, art workshops and artist's talks and other special events.
Located in Mahara Place Waikanae, it has a special association with famous New Zealand artist Frances Hodgkins and the special Field Collection which has been gifted to Kapiti district with Mahara as its permanent home. Also featuring taonga by iwi artists, cultural and domestic tourists from around New Zealand travel to see our shows.
An exciting planned $5 million redevelopment of the gallery is making good progress, offering more spaces for hundreds of local artists, touring shows, education and community projects.
Open Tuesdays to Saturdays, 10am - 4pm, the Gallery also offers for sale a wide range of quality ceramics, pounamu, jewellery, textiles, glass art, prints and books which make perfect gifts for family and friends.
