Southward Car Museum is the story of how one man's passion for cars turned into a fascinating legacy all can enjoy.
The Southward Car Museum is an automobile museum and event centre in Otaihanga. Established in the 1970s by Sir Len Southward and wife Vera to house a collection that started with a Model T Ford, the museum now houses over 450 vehicles, including several aircraft.
As the most extensive private collection in Australasia, housing some of the world’s rarest and most valuable vehicles, Southward Car Museum is considered the premier privately owned automotive collection in the Southern Hemisphere.
The Southward Theatre is the primary performance space, seating up to 474 audience members.
Southward theatre is a proscenium arch theatre featuring a state of the art Mother Truss Grid hanging system over a large 12 m wide by 11 m deep stage.
There is ample backstage space with a 200sqm loading dock and 6 large dressing rooms, separate Greenroom/Kitchen and dedicated backstage parking. A selection of quality intelligent lighting fixtures and a state of the art sound system are available for hire.

There are three primary conference spaces
McLaren Boardroom - Suitable for up to 10 attendees.
Bugatti Room - up to 120 people seated at large round tables, or 150 without tables
Bentley Room - up to 80 people seated at large round tables, or 120 without table
Southwards work closely with a number of catering companies to deliver high-quality cost-effective catering packages. Couple that with an onsite commercial kitchen and Southwards can handle any catering needs you may have.
The large park-like grounds include a natural amphitheatre, stunning landscaped gardens, bush walks and a lake, providing a stunning backdrop for any outside event.
